San Bernardo, Chapter I/San Bernardo Capitulo I

San Bernardo is a poor, working class community just over the hill from Playas de Tijuana in the canyon to the east of Playas. It has no running water, sewage or paved streets. The canyon flows down to the Tijuana river, to the ocean, and to the beach.
San Bernardo es una colonia maginada en el can~on al este de Playas de Tijuana. No hay auga potable, drenaje ni pavimento. Su can~on va por el rio tijuana al mar y la playa.

Water is now piped into the community & then delivered by truck.

Hay agua potable por camion.

The city is beginning construction of water & sewer lines.

La municipalidad ha iniciado construccion de tubos para agua y drenaje.

This was a dry day. In the rain the streets are impassable. The runoff & erosion is terrible.

Eso es un dia seco. En la lluvia no se puede pasar por las calles. Es horible el aflujo y la erosion.

Saturday the Fundacion Esperanza, the Universidad Iberoamericana & Las Gaviotas Grupo Ecologico joined with the neighbors to pave the streets with permiable blocks to prevent runoff & erosion. To be continued.

El sabado la fundacion esperanza, la universidad iberoamericana y las gaviotas grupo ecologico unimos con los vecinos para pavimentar las calles con bloques permeables para prevenir el aflujo y la erosion. A continuar.
